Contains the following type of materials: photographs. Covers the following wars: World War I (WWI), World War II (WWII). Contains photographs of the following military units: 31st Infantry Regiment; 29th Infantry Regiment. General description of the collection: The LeRoy W. Yarborough photograph collection includes Yarborough who was a career army officer whose service spanned a period longer than most soldiers who obtain the rank of field colonel. The photos in this collection are basically three periods of time of Colonel Yarborough's service: pre-WWI maneuvers at Alascadero, California; WWI service in Vladivostok, Russia with the 31st Infantry Regiment; and service during WWII and thereafter, as chief of the Recruiting Publicity Bureau at Governor's Island, New York. The early photos show uniforms and equipment of the army following the new regulations of December 31, 1902. Both field dress and fatigue ensambles are pictured as well as the Colt water cooled machine gun and the Browning automatic rifle. The Russian campaign of the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) shows both American and Russian troops, soldier life in Vladivostok as well as ethnic Russians and the sight of that city. Effects of the revolution are pictured: dead bodies, units, equipment, leaders, etc. There are several photos of Fort Sill, Oklahoma, in the 1920s and the building of Fort Benning, Georgia and President Harding's visit to that post. The Recruiting Publicity Bureau photos are of the staff variety and "grin and shake" venue. There are photos of several posters used by the Bureau. In one of the photos Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt is featured.
